Experiences

10 months (Feb 2007 – Dec 2007) as a nanny cum helper the Philippines

Jollibee worked in a 3-bedroom bungalow with a garden, garage, balcony, 2-toilet, a living room and kitchen for a family of 4 with a 5-year-old child, and she looked after the child welfare, together with a nanny, a driver and a stay-out helper. Daily she assists with the household chores. She did not work long, as the employer returned to England.

(Jan 2008 – Mar 2010)

During this period, she worked as a sales demo for a year in SM City Batangas, Philippines. In between she took rest.

(Apr 2010 – present) as a helper cum a house caretaker in Batangas, Philippines

Jollibee worked in a 2-storey house with a 5-bedroom, 6-toilet, a living room and kitchen for an elderly couple, an 88-year-old bedridden male with Parkinson’s disease and she looked after his wellbeing, together with a male co-helper (her husband). Daily she does general house cleaning chores and occasional carpet washing and cleaning, do marketing, prepare and cook for them, do the laundry, ironing and folding. In 2021, the elderly male passed on and in February 2023, the female elderly moved to another country with her family. In all these, she managed the work well, a patient and disciplined, determined and understanding helper. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adjust to new culture and experience.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as vegetable dishes, fried dishes, adobo, sinigang and tinola etc., keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infants and she looks after her own since birth. In her local experience, she prepared their milk, meals for older one and fed them, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing, read them storybooks, accompanied them outdoors for shopping and play activities, dressed and send them to-and-fro from school, keep company and soothed them to sleep, attended to their daily needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly. In her local experience, she prepared his meals and fed him, bathed and changed his clothing and diapers, monitored his blood pressure, administered his medication, assisted in transferring him from bed to wheelchair and vice versa, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, attended to his daily needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and she has an Aspin at home. She groom and fed, walk the dog and keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Jollibee is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
