9 years (Mar 1999 – Mar 2008) as a helper cum working student in the Philippines

Angelie worked in a 2-bedroom bungalow with toilets, living room, dining area and kitchen for a family of 5 with a 1-, 3- and 4-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, do marketing, prepare and cook for the family, do the laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future work, she hopes to learn and adapt to new cultures and experiences.

Worked as a sales lady for about year in a market in the Philippines. Currently, she manages her small sari-sari store, runs an internet cafe business and as a vegetables peddler.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as adobo, chicken curry, siomai, menudo etc., keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looks after her own. In her local experience, she washed and cleaned up after them, prepared their milk and meals, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed their clothing and diapers, dressed and accompanied them to and fro from school, provided tutoring and supervision of children schoolwork, soothed them to sleep, attended to and assisted in their daily needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after mobile elderly and she looked after her 66-year-old father for about 2 months before he passed on due to a motor accident. During this period, she assisted to bathe and changed him with fresh clothing and diapers in bed, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, checked and monitored his vital signs, attended to and assisted in his needs.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Angelie is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
