1 year (2021 – 2022) as a helper cum working student in the Philippines

Meliza worked in a 2-storey house with 3-bedroom, 3-toilet, a living room, dining room and kitchen for a family of 4, together with a co-helper (her mother). Daily, she cleans and tidy the house, wash and clean up the kitchen and utensils after use, do the laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well and a responsible helper. For her future work, she hopes to adapt to new culture and save up.

Works in a grocery store in the Philippines.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as pancit, fried egg, veggies etc., keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looks after her own since her birth. She prepared milk, meals and fed her, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed her with fresh clothing and diapers, administered her vitamins, watched over her safety and playing, sing lullabies and soothed her to sleep.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly and she assisted in looking after her mid-70s asthmatic grandmother. She prepared her meals, assisted in her movement, changed her with clean diapers, administered her prescribed medication, checked and monitored her health condition, attended to and assisted in her daily needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Meliza is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
