Experiences

1 year (Mar 2012 – Mar 2013) as a helper in Manila, Philippines

Malow worked in a flat with 2-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a family of 6 with a 2-, 6- and 14-year-old, and she looked after their wellbeing, together with a co-helper (cousin). Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, wash and clean up the kitchen and utensils after use, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't work for long, as she needed to continue her studies. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new culture, experience and save up.

(2013 – 2015)

Stayed home and seek new work opportunities.  

(2016 – present)

Worked as service crew in a fast-food restaurant as a clerk on a 6 month contract in Municipality of Hinigaran in the Philippines. In between, she took rest and seek new work opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as chicken adobo and sinigang, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and her 2-year-old niece, during the time she stayed over with them. In her previous experience, she prepared their milk and meals, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, read them story books, familiarize them in colors, alphabets and sing lullabies, accompanied for outdoor activities, watched over their playing and safety, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly, and she assisted in looking after her 68-year-old grandmother, a stroke patient for three years before she passed on. She prepared, cooked the meals and fed her, bathed and dressed her with fresh clothing and diapers, administered her medications, provided feet and hand exercises, attended to and assisted in her needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Malow is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
