Experiences

1 year 6 months (Jun 2020 – Dec 2021) as a stay-out helper in the Philippines

Erica worked in a single bedroom apartment with a toilet, living room and a kitchen for a family of 4 with a 6- and 9-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, do marketing, prepare and cook for the family, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't continue working because the employer moved to another city.

(Jan 2022 – Jun 2022)

Stayed home, took rest and applied to work in Kuwait.  

1 year 3 months (Jul 2022 – Sep 2023) as a helper in Kuwait

Erica worked in a single bedroom apartment with 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for an Arabian family of 3 with a 3-year-old, and she looked after his welfare, together with a driver. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't complete the contract because the employer was too strict and always get angry. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to widen her experience to be a better helper.

(Oct 2023 – Nov 2023)

Returned home and worked as a sales lady in the market in the Philippines.

(Dec 2023 – present)

Stays home, take rest and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In Kuwait, she prepared and cooked basic Arabic dishes, such as kabsa etc.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looked after her own since birth. In her previous employment, she prepared their milk and meals, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and dressed them with fresh clothing and diapers, administered their vitamins and medications, accompanied them for outdoor play activities and get children ready for school, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly and she assisted to look after her 88-year-old grandfather before he passed on. She prepared his meals and fed him, administered his medications, bathed and changed him with fresh clothing and diapers, accompanied him for outdoor sunshine and relaxation, attended to and assisted in his needs.  



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and back home, she grooms and feed a Shih Tzu, keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Erica is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
