Experiences

2 months (Jan 2016 – Mar 2016) as helper in the Philippines

Jecel worked in a flat with 2-bedrooms, a toilet, living room and kitchen for a family of 4 with a 5- and 7-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't work for long as she needed to continue her studies.

(2016 – 2018)

Stayed home, spent time with her family, and seek new work opportunities.

1 year (2019 – 2020) as helper cum working student for her aunt in the Philippines

Jecel worked in a boarding house with a single bedroom, toilet and kitchen for a family of 2 with a 4-year-old, and she looked after her welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, do laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new experiences and culture.

(2021 – present)

Stays home and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as chicken and fish tinola, chicken and pork adobo etc. keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looked after her niece and cousin since they were infant. In her previous experience, she prepared their milk and meals, bathed, dressed and sent them to-and-fro from school, administered their vitamins, kept company and played with them, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly and she looks after her a mid-70 grandmother, a mild-stroke patient. She prepares meals and feed her, administers her medications, bathes and changes her with fresh clothing, assists in her mobility, attend to and assist in her needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and back home, she grooms and feed a Shih Tzu, walk the dog and keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Jecel is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
