Experiences

1 year 3 months (Jun 2017 – Sep 2018) as helper in Abu Dhabi

Joanne worked in a 3-storey house with a 6-toilets, 4-bedrooms, a living room and kitchen for a Syrian family of 6 with a 9-year-old, and she looked after his welfare, together with 2 co-helpers and an Arabian driver. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't complete the contract, as she was in family way after her home leave.

Returned home, looked after her family welfare and applied to work in UAE

1 year 7 months (Oct 2021 – May 2023) as nanny cum helper in Abu Dhabi (no passport stamps)

Joanne worked in a bungalow with 3-toilets, 2-bedrooms, a living room and kitchen for an Egyptian-Israelite family of 4 with a 1- and 4-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the children, do laundry, ironing and folding. She didn't complete the contract, as the employer was too strict and misunderstandings between them. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to widen her experience to be a better helper.

(Jun 2023 – present)

Returns home, looks after her family welfare, work as a part-time Cashier in a salon and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In UAE, she prepared and cooked basic Arabic dishes, such as biryani etc.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looked after her own since birth. In her previous experience, she prepared their milk and meals, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, administered their vitamins, dressed and send them to-and-fro from school, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, accompanied them for outdoor play activities and relaxation, attended to and assisted in their needs.


Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the mobile elderly.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Joanne is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
