Catherine 35 separated with a 1-, 8-year-old (from her live-in partner), a 16- and 18-year-old, and the she is eldest child in the family. She wants to work in Singapore to support and save up for her family and their future, and she is from Surigao Del Norte, Philippines.

She graduated from high school, equivalent to Spore’s Sec School.



Experiences

7 months (Aug 2021 – Mar 2022) as helper in Kuwait

Catherine worked in a 3-storey house with 4-bedrooms, 4-toilets, 2-kitchens and living room for a Kuwaiti family of 5 with a 3-month-old and a 2-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, do laundry, ironing and folding, wash and clean the family car. She didn't complete the contract because of quarrel. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new experiences and culture.

Returns home, looks after her family, and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In Kuwait, she prepared and cooked basic Arabic dishes, such as salata etc.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and she looked after her own since birth. In Kuwait, she prepared their milk and meals, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, sing lullabies and soothed them to sleep, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly and she looked after her 62-year-old mother, a stroke patient, before she passed on. She prepared her meals and fed her, bathed and dressed her with fresh clothing and diapers, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, attended to her daily needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets. In Kuwait, she fed a parrot and kept clean the pet’s cage.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Catherine is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
