Experiences

3 years 7 months (Aug 2013 – Mar 2017) as helper in Kuwait

Joan worked in a 2-storey house with 5-toilets, 4-bedrooms, 2-living rooms and a kitchen for an Irani family of 7 with a 32-year-old female with impaired mobility, and assisted in looking after her welfare, together with 2 Filipina co-helpers. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding, wash and clean the family car.

(Apr 2017 – Jun 2018)

Returned home, looked after her family welfare and applied to work in Saudi Arabia.

5 years 6 months (Jul 2018 – Jan 2024) as helper in Saudi Arabia

Joan worked in a 2-storey house with 4-bedrooms, 4-toilets, 3-living rooms, garden and a kitchen for an Arabian family of 13 with a 2-year-old, and she looked after his welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding, wash and clean family car. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new culture and experiences.

(Feb 2024 – present)

Returns home, looks after her children welfare and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In her previous experience, she prepared and cooked basic Arabic dishes, such as kabsa, marag laham,marag diyay etc.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children and/or infant and looks after her own since birth. In Saudi, she prepared his milk and fed him, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed him with fresh clothing and diapers, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, soothed him to sleep.



Elderly/ Patient Care

She is keen to look after the elderly. In Kuwait, she prepared her meals and fed her, bathed and dressed her with fresh clothing and diapers, changed bed laying position, attended to and assisted in her needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets. In Kuwait, she fed felines and birds, kept clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Joan is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
