Experiences

8 months (Feb 2012 – Oct 2012) as a helper in the Philippines

Margie worked in a landed property with 3-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a family of 6 with a 2- and 3-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, assist with marketing, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding.

(Nov 2012 – Jun 2013)

Stayed home, looked after her family welfare and seek new work opportunities.

1 year 9 months (Jul 2013 – Apr 2015) as a helper in Makati, Philippines

Margie worked in a landed property with 4-bedrooms, 5-toilets, a living room, study room and kitchen for a family of 12 with a 2-month-old and 3-year-old, and she assisted in looking after their welfare, together with a cook, co-helper, two nannies, driver, gardener and a stay-out helper. Daily, she does general house cleaning chores, assist to prepare and cook breakfast. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to learn and adapt to new culture and experiences.  

(May 2015 – present)

Stays home, looks after her family welfare, worked as Sales Lady for 6 months, and seek new job opportunities.


Cooking                   

She cooks Filipino dishes, such as adobo, sinigang, Bicol express, binagoongan, etc., keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes.



Childcare

She is keen to look after children / infants, and she looks after her own since birth. In her previous experience, she prepared their milk, meals and fed them, washed and sterilized feeding bottles, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, kept company and played with them, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly and back home, she looks after her 75-year-old grandmother, prepare her meals and fed her, bathe and dress her with fresh clothing, administer her medications, attend to and assist in her needs.


Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets. In her previous experience, she groomed and fed an Aspin, kept clean the pet areas.  



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.



Recommendation

In summary, Margie is mature and ready to take on new challenge. Being a first timer in Singapore, it may not be easy for her to understand employer’s needs, however, we believe with enough time, proper guidance and training, she will be a good help in your family.
