Experiences

1 year 1 month (Apr 2007 – May 2008) as a helper in the Philippines

Jelyn worked in a bungalow with 2-bedrooms, a toilet, living room and kitchen for a family of 4 with a 2- and 5-year-old, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she cleans and tidy the house, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding.

(Jun 2008 – Feb 2010)

Stayed home, spent time with her family and applied to work in Singapore.

11 years (Mar 2010 – Mar 2021) as a helper in Singapore

Jelyn worked in a HDB flat with 3-bedrooms, 2-toilets, a living room and kitchen for a Singaporean family of 3 with an 87-year-old bedridden male with liver cancer and 90-year-old female with heart problem and dementia and, and she looked after their welfare. Daily, she cleans and tidy the house, marketing, prepare and cook for the family, laundry, ironing and folding. In all these, she managed the work well. For her future employment, she hopes to widen her experience to be a better helper.

Returns home, looks after her family welfare and seek new job opportunities.



Cooking                   

She cooks Filipino dishes, keen to learn to cook Chinese and various other dishes. In Singapore, she prepared and cooked basic Chinese dishes, such as chicken and herbal soup, fish and chicken curry, blanch vegetables etc.  



Childcare

She is keen to look after children / infants, and she looks after her own since birth. In her local experience, she prepared their milk and meals, bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, watched over their playing and safety, dressed and sent the child to-and-fro from school, sang lullabies and soothed them to sleep, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Elderly Care

She is keen to look after the elderly. In Singapore, she prepared their meals and fed them, bed bathed and changed them with fresh clothing and diapers, administered their vitamins and medications, checked and monitored vital signs, maintained cleanliness and hygiene, accompanied them for outdoor relaxation, medical check-ups and during night hours, transferred from bed to wheelchair and vice versa, changed bed position, attended to and assisted in their needs.



Pet Care

She is keen to look after pets and back home, she feed a cat and keep clean the pet areas.



Hand phone

She will follow the employer’s instruction regarding hand phone usage. However, she will contact her family using her own hand phone after work hour. Any other usage arrangement is between employer and helper; this will be stated in the Job Offer.



Off-day

The helper is entitled to 1 compulsory off-day per month and the other working off-days shall be compensated accordingly.



2 years contract

She is aware of the 2-year contract.
